What differences will the Teach-Ins make?

Beginning this year and continuing for the next few years, we hope the Next System Teach-In process will:

• • prepare the way for the emergence of Next System Studies on university and college campuses everywhere;
  • build ties within and among campuses and local communities; and,
  • infuse a broad array of next system organizations, campaigns, and projects with energy, ideas, and other resources.

Who is organizing the Teach-Ins?

One of the organizers may be you. Each Teach-In is organized locally by local people. Most Teach-Ins take place on university, college, or school campuses; others will take place in community centers or other public spaces. All it takes is one person to begin the process. We provide resources on how to get organizations involved and building coalitions on our website.

Another way you can build the Teach-Ins is to get your association, union, cooperative, network, section, journal, media site, or other organization to cosponsor the process. Read more about what that involves here.

The international coordination of the Teach-Ins is being performed by the Next System Teach-Ins Taskforce, a project of Next System Studies, a project of encuentro5, supported by faculty and staff from Next System Studies at George Mason University, University of Vermont, York University, University of Minnesota, and Universidad Nacional de San Martín, together with many academic partners at many other institutions and community partners at the American Association of University Professors, Leadership for the Ecozoic, Scholars for a New Deal in Higher Education, Presente.org, U.S. Solidarity Economy Network, Move to Amend, Global Tapestry of Alternatives, Learning Life, and World Beyond War.
